Agatha would never admit it, but Trivia night a the bar was probably her favorite shift to work. It has absolutely nothing to do with the adorably nerdy butch who always wins. Agatha definitely doesn’t have a crush on said butch and definitely hasn’t been sending free drinks to their table. That would be insane. (Agatha has regular sex dreams about the nerdy butch, and Lilia’s been trying to figure out for months why the vodka inventory doesn’t match the bar’s sales.)

Agatha couldn’t move. It was her, she was sure of it—the dancer from the club, on the night of the last day of school. A stripper was standing in her classroom, addressing her second-graders. A stripper who, until this very moment, had been filed neatly into the category of things Agatha would never think about again. (Except that one time, when she got too drunk on the Fourth of July. And that other time, when she got too drunk on the Seventh of July, which was just a normal Tuesday.) And yet here she was, in practical jeans and a black tee, looking every inch like a competent professional.

Agatha leans in towards Rio, all attention on her, “I told them I’m going on a date tonight—”
“Ah, so there’s the line. You know, if you wanted to take me out, you could’ve just asked.”
Agatha glares at Rio for her stupid joke, “No need for all the excess—a photo of you will do, just so they know when I come home that I could date if I wanted to.”
“So you want a picture of me to convince everyone back home that you’re going on a date… instead of just going on a date?”
Agatha clicks and points at Rio, “Now you’re getting it.”

Agatha needs to convince her son and her friends that she’s having the whirlwind vacation romance of a lifetime. Probably so they don’t think she’ll die alone. That’s where Rio (who she knows absolutely nothing about) comes in.

“Hit her?” Agatha almost grinned, “Mark your territory and intimidate her?”

“What?”
Agatha narrowed her eyes, a certain pain lingering behind the aqua. “Ex wife, Rio. I’m your ex wife, you're my ex wife.”
“I said that.”
“No,” She blew out a tired breath. “You didn’t.”
