“What?” The tea cup nearly slipped from his grasp.
“I think I just need some help to…make things interesting–for the story, I mean.”
“Oh…um…of course, I’d love to help you, Pen,” he said quietly before adding, “but, I’m not sure how?” His massive frame shrunk, shy and hesitant – a stark contrast to the typically poised, confident Colin Bridgerton she knew.
“Well, I think the biggest challenge is going to be…positioning. My characters have a height difference, kind of like you and me.” She could feel her cheeks flush at her admission, but she bravely continued. “If we could just…simulate various positions–clothes on and everything…that might help?”

He is grateful for all of it. Joyful, disbelieving at his own luck, and endlessly grateful.
But it is quite a lot to balance, now. He wonders often if he is truly up to the task.

This is second in a series of Married Polin stories in which Colin and Penelope navigate what Happily Ever After actually looks like. Just because an initial love story gets a happy ending does not mean everything comes easily. There is work to maintain that HEA. Happy work. Work that is worth it. But still: WORK.
