Summary
"Ser Duncan," Baelor says kindly. Softly. His voice is as gentle as Duncan remembers it to be. It's a warm timbre that melts like honey and Duncan is sure he can taste it. He can taste the Prince in all the ways he knows he should not. "I've missed the chance to properly greet you, though, I do recall you move quick."
Duncan knows it is a jest. He’d taken off from Ashford the moment Baelor had risen from his deathbed. He knows it is a jest because it has taken an entire spring for their paths to cross again.
But Baelor doesn't sound upset. He sounds as if he is smiling and Duncan wishes nothing more than to see, but he refuses. His gaze digs into the sweet cakes, never up at the Prince.
"Tart cakes," Baelor says, misunderstanding his staring. "You've chosen to wear the eyepatch I’ve given you?"
*
In which Baelor survives the Trial, and Duncan is sure putting distance between them will keep the Prince out of harms way.

Summary
"Maekar thought, sometimes, that he would have been happier to die fighting alongside his brother during the Rebellion than returning home to live a life without him. At least then, they would have been burned together."
***
Post-Ashford. Baelor is recuperating at Summerhall. Feelings are surfacing that Maekar has long been trying to bury.
