Going for just yet another trip to the store, Sonic inadvertently not only gets reminded of the constant greed his world is suffering these days, but something he'll sadly never experience with his lover Shadow due to both financial difficulties and fear of public backlash: carrying their child.
Well, Shadow isn't a licensed therapist to have him fully deal with those feelings, but hey, he can certainly try, and sometimes, that's really all you need.

Sonic has a secrete, one he has hid for years now. It wasn't suppose to be hidden for so long, in fact almost everyone in his life knew about it. Everyone but his family that is. It's been five years, and with the news that he's going to be starting his own family, Sonic has to come clean. Now, as he prepares to welcome his own little hoglets into the world, he also has to see if he can fix the strained relationship he has with his family.
~~He laughs, as he sits on the floor next to Ozzie, a bowl of dry cereal in his hands. It took six weeks and three days for Sonic to fall in love with Shadow. He never though he would fall in love. First because he was in hiding, never mind that he had not actually thought about it when he was younger. Then, when he didn’t need to hide anymore, there was never anyone who caught his attention, Knuckles and Tails were his siblings, and everyone else was a human. And here comes this hedgehog, this tragically beautifully kind hog. Making Sonic fall in love.~~

Summary
Working with each other in Operation Cleanup, a plan to rebuild the city after a particularly gruesome Eggman attack, Sonic and Shadow grow closer. Feelings come to a head during a hangout at Shadow’s apartment.
When Shadow gets called away for an inter-dimensional mission and Sonic has to care for his houseplants as well as communicate with him through Morse code, he realizes just how deep his feelings run. Who else would he go through all this trouble for?
