"How did you catch it, anyway?" Jayce asks. "Didn't you get your shot?"
"No." Viktor glares at him through the thick goggles. (They warp his eyes in a way that Jayce thinks is very cute, but he won't say that.) "I was working, and we only have so much time until our money runs out. You know this."
Irritation bubbles up in Jayce's body. He does know that, but he didn't—it wasn't supposed to make Viktor sick. Viktor should've been more careful! "You have a compromised immune system!" Blunt. It'll piss him off. Jayce is right, though.
"Yes," Viktor spits, "which is why I can afford to take the hit. I would have become sick regardless." He sniffles indignantly. "You, on the other hand, would probably be asymptomatic if you had taken the shot."

Jayce misses his flu shot. Viktor also misses his flu shot.
This is, of course, the one time they both get the flu at the same time.

Summary
Five steps lead up to the door, all Viktor has to do is climb them and knock. Each step makes his nerves increase, his hands feel clammy, but he stands outside the door, ready to knock. All he needs to do is knock.
What if Jayce has company? What if the councillor is there? What if he doesn’t want to see him? This was a foolish idea. No, he made it this far, it doesn't matter if she is there. He'll just drop off the book anyway, it's not as if he will stay.
He knocks.Or, Viktor's fingers needed kissing, so the author made that happen. A love story.
