“I’m coming to the cottage.”
Shane’s heart stops beating. Everything goes blank. “Shane?”
Shane realizes he hasn’t said anything for an awkwardly long period of time. He clears his throat and tries to remember any words in any language. “When?”
“When do you want me?” Ilya’s voice is soft and rumbly, hesitant in a way that Shane isn’t used to hearing from the usually confident alpha. Shane can’t believe his ears.
Always, his traitorous mind supplies. I want you always. “Next week?” he says instead. He’d planned to have his heat in July, but with a ticking doomsday clock looming over Shane, he’s not sure he can wait that long. Even if it means telling Ilya the truth. Even if it means Ilya leaves him for good. All he knows is he needs to see Ilya as soon as possible, hold him in his arms and fill his lungs with his scent.
Ilya releases a breath. “Okay. Next week.”
aka Shane is accidentally pregnant and decides to get an abortion while he and Ilya are at the cottage, but first he needs to *tell* Ilya.
