“You don't know.” Itachi finally speaks matter-of-factly, sounding distraught by this. It is clear that he hadn’t expected such a lack of Intel from Madara.
Seems like Kakashi's little long-term mission is not as much of a well-hidden secret as he had thought. The very idea makes his stomach churn with disgust– the fact that there were heaps of people out there who knew what was his right to know while he didn't was simply nauseating.
Obito’s fists clench at his sides, his voice comes out in a cold, shrilling, growl “where is he?” and Itachi knows just as well as he does that this is not a question that can go unanswered
“I cannot be sure, all that I know is that he disappeared from Konoha a month ago”

Summary

So, when confronted with crucial information that had been kept from him by the very village he had dedicated his life to, Kakashi starts to sink further and further into the back of his own mind, unable to shake away the feeling of betrayal in the face of the Hokage and his council that refused to even so much as throw him a bone for all his bleeding and fighting for the ir village.

It would be a lie to say that Kakashi regretted his decision to become a jounin instructor– not because the job makes him jump for joy, but rather because he didn't make that decision in the first place.
if there is, however, one good time to regret decisions he didn't make, it would be now, confronted with one of the worst cases of mission mislabeling he has ever seen.
Desperate to get the situation under control in the way that least threatened his three little menaces, Kakashi comes up with possibly the most recklessly stupid plan he has ever made in his life.
He doesn't know what is stranger, that he offered this as a solution at all or that Zabuza accepted it

Summary
Kakashi suddenly leaves Konoha with not a warning to anyone, not even Gai. His motives remain a mystery to most people, though he seems to be searching for someone.
Obito can hardly believe that Kakashi would go rogue, it does not befit the image he has of him at all. He needs to find Kakashi so he can confirm the rumours for himself, and perhaps even integrate him in the Akatsuki.
Kakashi doesn't know what to think of the strange masked man that is clearly hiding a lot more competence than would be believed looking at his silly facade.
