Summary
If you do the right thing, you will know it in your heart. That's the philosophy he's been living by since he got his new family; to live and to learn, to keep moving forward no matter what difficulties come his way.
This 'arrangement' he has with Shadow—sneaking him in, finding places where they won't be eavesdropped on or discovered—goes against that very principle. In his heart, he knows this is all wrong.
But he'll be damned if it doesn't feel good.

Sonic Movie 3 Spoilers!
Sonic is struck with grief in the wake of Shadow's sacrifice. Shadow, in his truest form—his pain, his honor, the good in his heart—is Sonic's little secret. The world isn't ready. Nobody would understand, not even his own family. Sonic is more than ready to shoulder the burden.
But Shadow's not dead.
It doesn't take long for he and Sonic to fall into their awkward little tango. Midnights spent sneaking into the Wachowski household lends well to forming a strong, indestructible bond, and it's only natural that, over the course of it all, two hedgehogs fall in love.
Title comes from the song Hunter by Paris Paloma, which played at the theater before my second viewing of Sonic 3, and now is a song I associate wholly with sonadow. Haha, whoops!

I think this will be the only death fic that I will bookmark. I don't know. This and that one Kel cancer fic are engraved in the back of my skull now, never to be forgotten. Death fics, the really good ones, are like that. I resent them for that. But yeah. This one belongs in my bookmarks. It feels right, so here.

Stu reached one of his long, large hands around, grabbing Murdoc’s shirt at the chest, just holding on. “You want me, right?” he asked.
Murdoc laughed again, unable not to. It was a laughable situation. He took a hit, not wanting to let the joint burn away in his hand, and he tilted his head to the side, giving Stu a little more room to work with. “So bad it keeps me up every night.”
Stu hummed, not picking up on the sarcasm.
