Summary
Everything is fine. Everything is absolutely peachy fucking keen.
When the night shift calls Dennis in a few hours early, he goes without complaint. He knows how miserable a shift can get without enough hands on deck. But lack of sleep slowly starts to catch up with him.
Dennis Whitaker does not faint. That would be embarrassing. He’s on the floor for perfectly reasonable, perfectly respectable reasons. He does not need a banana bag. He does not need the day off.
He just needs a little bit of sleep.
—
Or: Dennis has a bad day at work. Robby has Jack pick him up to babysit him at his and Robby’s apartment until Robby gets off shift. When Dennis still can’t force himself to sleep, his Attendings take it upon themselves to tire him out.

Summary
Kyrie eleison- "Lord, have mercy."
It took just a second, a moment, a blink of an eye, and—
"No one talks to my husband like that."
And Dennis's world fell apart.
(Or, pain.)

They loved Desmond Miles enough to shape the world for him.
And they loved him that much for a reason. For lots of little reasons. Lots of little moments, spread out across their few decades with him.

Summary
'The older man laughed at his predicament. Then he did something terrible. He rolled up his sleeves for him. Dennis was damn near breathless when he got to the left hand. Jesus Christ, this will be a long day if Robby is already hovering and touching like this. He gets in moods where he likes to control what everyone does. Dennis is the one who bends to it the easiest, though, so he often bears the brunt. He didn’t even mind, which was probably the worst part.
When they walked out for the morning huddle, Trinity took one look at him and cackled. “My coat not good enough for ya? Or did you just wanna smell like daddy?” At least she had the decency to whisper it.
“Shut up. I should’ve never told you that.”'
Or in which Dennis has a rare condition that prevents him from feeling the physical sensation of pain. Jack and Robby have to find novel ways to punish him into taking better care of himself.

Summary
Michael “Robby” Robinavitch and Jack Abbott were medics before the cordyceps’ infection began; and they remained medics long after FEDRA destroyed what that word meant.
For years, the men traveled the broken roads with a backpack of deteriorating medicine and a pledge they still believed in: ethical practices, confidentiality, and compassionate care. Even if there was no higher power to answer to anymore.
After treating rebels, travelers, and anyone who was desperate enough to escape FEDRA’s nightmare-ish “care.” Dennis Whitaker joined them on their tireless journey.
Dennis was caught in the crossfire of the cordyceps—born too close to the outbreak to remember what the original world was, but old enough to know the high price of survival.
The trio fell into a routine quickly—always keeping the younger between the older men: Dennis carried their supplies, learning their medical practices while Robby and Jack carried the guns and weapons.
But their routine is interrupted when they cross paths with Joel and Ellie. Soon, their rules and pledges blur between survival and bloodshed—and through the bloodshed, bonds seem to grow stronger.
