Scaramouche feels a pang hit his chest, a deep ache settle into his bones. He does not reply.
“’Mouche,” Childe says, his voice shaking. “Tell me, and I’ll just shut up right now.”
Scara blinks. He opens his mouth to speak, and finds he has no words. His eyes begin to burn.
Childe is silent for a moment. He seems to be thinking about what he’s going to say. Scara knows him well enough to see him weighing pros and cons, worrying at it, biting his lip as he thinks.
“Scara, I . . .” He sighs.
“What?” Scara snaps.
