Summary
The mug is the last straw.
The aggressive red lines mock him from across the room, drawing his eye no matter how much he tries to resist. Not only is it ridiculous, garish, but the damned audacity he has in drinking from it like it’s just another cup makes it impossible to think of anything else.
Alastor doesn’t hate many things, but seeing his artwork defaced and enjoyed by that damned clown is far more than he can stomach.

Summary
It’s been so long, you’ve forgotten to expect it. And yet, there it is: a dusty, faded flower, sitting pretty on your doorstep. The thing’s face is withered, nearly gray instead of purple, and a simpler you could write that off as the cause of your delay in recognition if the thing wasn’t so distinctive, and that makes it denial, and isn’t that so much worse?
A little necklace adorns the thing; thin string punched through cream-colored paper, the corners folded just-so. A wax seal you might recognize, but coordinates you don’t, at least not from here, so you lean in for a closer look. You pick up the flower, and something in your mind whitens. The fuzz of the stem prickles at your thumb, just like so many kisses, and that- that is when his voice comes up, dread-warmth in your ear.
“For bonny sweet Robin is all of my joy.”

Summary
“Do you want to get married?” she blurts out in lieu of her own greeting. She needs to have the words out before she chickens out of this conversation.
(You should talk to him, Sophie advised when Parker started to ask too many questions and she, like many other times, understood what was really going on — even before the thief would. Her friend had told her those same words before and she had been right then. Everything worked out for the better.
Hopefully it will again.)

Summary
"What can I get you?" Parker looked at the waitress with an unreadable expression. "Where's Cora?" she turned to Nate. "Ah yes, folks, this is June. She's running the bar now." "What do you mean, running?" Hardison eyed the new girl: "Where's Cora?" "Well, Cora's gone back to her old home and I've been looking for a replacement..." "Without asking us?" Sophie blurted out. "Hey, it's my bar. I don't see why I need to ask you..."
June was still standing in the same position, wondering whether to watch the banter with amusement or irritation. So this was the team Nate had talked about at their first meeting. She was about to leave when Parker said, "I'm hungry!" and looked at her as if that settled everything. Hardison looked from Parker to June with a smile: "Me too!" After a glance around, she realized that this was going to be some kind of test to see if she was worthy of taking over Cora's legacy. An almost imperceptible wink from Nate was probably meant to be encouraging, but she only asked: "Drink?" "Oh yes, ma'am, we're thirsty," Hardison replied, and with a quiet grin, she set off to bring that particular order. It all begins with a typical evening in Boston and ends years later in Portland.

Summary
Eliot is their Hitter: he deals out the violence, and, when someone has to, he takes the blows aimed their way.
Except when things don't work out that way at all. Then nothing makes sense anymore.
