"How's Steve doing?" Tasha asks.
"He's…" James could answer in one word, or a monologue. "He's not doing so good."
"Yeah," Tasha shakes her head, "I mean does he even eat? Or, well, can he at this point?"
"He tries, but he throws up almost everything," James sighs, and claps his two pieces of bread together. "He had the NG for like three days, then he threw it up, and they decided not to place another one for fuck knows what reason."
"What about an NJ or a surgical thing?" Tasha tilts her head. "TPN?"
"I've begged and pleaded," James is exhausted at this point. "He's lost twenty percent of his body weight. I don't know what to do."

Summary
"Steve, breathe, you're having a panic attack," James murmurs. He sets his hands on Steve's shoulders. One is warm, the other is cold metal. "Here, sit up," James guides Steve to be upright, but he's too disoriented to get his feet on the floor, so James has to help him do that too. "Head between your knees, okay?" He gently pushes on Steve's back to get him bent over.
"I'm so s-sorry," Steve rasps, then helplessly coughs when he inhales snot and saliva.
"It's fine," James runs his hand up and down Steve's back. "You've been all jittery and quiet for a while, I figured this would happen."
"I don't…I don't f-feel very good," Steve sniffles.

"Buck, my head really hurts," Steve groans, letting his temple flop onto James's shoulder.
"I know," He murmurs. Steve's been having near-constant migraines. They kept trying the G, but each time it led to hours of vomiting, which meant more loss of electrolytes, and now that's led to these horrific headaches.
"I don't think I can do this," Steve gulps and squeezes his eyes shut. For Steve's sake, James is grateful that they didn't have to stay in the waiting room, and the MA brought them right back.
"We just really need to figure out your tube, okay?" James whispers. He just wants to wrap Steve in his arms and never let go. "I promise we'll go right home after this, and you can take a nap."

“You’re really pale.” The wooden seat creaks quietly as Kirara sits down next to him. She places her hand on Yuta’s back. “And sweaty.”
The corners of his eyes prickle with intolerable sharpness. Pressure in his sinuses intensifies alongside the aching lump in his throat.
“What’s wrong with him?” Hakari asks gruffly, further than Kirara but close enough to be just as humiliating. He’d really rather not crumble in front of his seniors.
