Summary
The Hail Mary has been shot out into the depths of the infinite void of space to search for an answer that may not even be there. Aboard, the three crew members lay in stasis as the ship hurtles like an arrow towards a distant star, with no hope of return, but a desperate hope to make things right.
At home, two brothers are left in sudden and violent grief. A woman grapples with whether or not she made the right decision. The world strains and suffers under the weight of the coming Fimbulwinter.
And then one of the beetles returns.
Thirteen years early.

Summary
It’s been nearly 27 years since Eva Stratt forced Ryland Grace to board the Hail Mary and sent him off to his death for the greater good of mankind. Meanwhile, Eva and the Project Hail Mary team have been fighting a losing battle against the cooling sun—and their own demons—trying to make sure there were still people to be saved by the time the crew could send a solution home. Right on schedule, the beetles are returning to Earth, hopefully with the answer to saving the world. But Eva has something else to worry about; there’s every possibility Ryland Grace’s last words would be coming home, and all the time in the world couldn’t make her ready to face the consequences of her actions, or what will happen when her colleagues find out what she did to their friend.
It was time to find out if it was worth it for her to sacrifice Grace, and her soul, to save humanity. And to find out if she was ready to face him after all these years…- Language:

Summary
“An unknown object is intersecting with our launch path."
"What?" Stratt stilled, her hand fell over the thick, bound tome of Astrophage study and experiments. ‘Dr. Grace, R.’ graced the title page.
"There's an object on collision path with the Hail Mary. We cannot launch."
The door banged close behind her back as she marched to the control room. The Hail Mary must launch and nothing shall get in the way of it.
Rocky might be in over his head for thinking visiting Grace on Earth was any easy.

Summary
Every screen in the room blazed with the same breaking news feed. An alien voice had just asked for him by name on live television.
“Mr. Grace?” little Jamal whispered from the front row, eyes huge behind his glasses. “Is that really you they’re talking about? Like, you you?”
Ryland’s mouth opened, but nothing came out. His heart slammed against his ribs like it wanted to escape and hide under the desk with the class hamster. He was just Mr. Grace. The guy who drew cartoon planets on the board, who stayed late helping kids glue together messy dioramas of the solar system, who once spent an entire lunch period comforting a sobbing girl because her goldfish had “gone to the great fishbowl in the sky.” He graded spelling tests on vocabulary words like photosynthesis and asteroid. Aliens did not know his name. Aliens did not ask for science teachers.
The marker slipped from his fingers and clattered to the floor.
