The words were surely spiteful and Aegon smiled, bitterness marking his own face as he turned and saw her. Rhaenyra had never called him brother, always half brother. But to be fair, he never called her sister. She, who had all their father’s love and devotion, stood before him.
“Our father’s crown suits you,” he commented as he saw her standing across the room. Like him, she was donned in black, though she had did not have the Targaryen sigil on her clothes. But the crown atop her head did make her look every bit the ruler. At his comment, she laughed without amusement but her bitterness at him seemed to stall when he took the crown from his own head and looked at it as if it was a trinket. “This one is dreadfully heavy and a constant weight on my head. I do not care for it.”
