Summary
Genya stood amongst a field of red spider lilies, their stems bowing like a crowd of quiet witnesses. The sunlight warmed his face in a way that made the moment feel absurdly ordinary. He knows at once where he is, and for an instant the world zoned on the river that faced him.
His mother had told him, long ago, whispered to him and his siblings like a warning within a lullaby— the old wives’ tale came back to him unbidden, the river that carried you across, the current that met you at the edge of everything. It had been said to him as a child, a thing to keep in the corner of the mind like a reminder. Now it felt less like a tale and more like a foretelling.
In which Genya dies in his brother's arms, a Hashira finds the merit in gun wielding and a meeting between demons prompt a change of heart. Not necessarily in that order.

His hands locked onto the bars of the fence, and he leaned in to kiss me. I remember it so clearly. I’d never been kissed. But I knew that I liked kissing Atsushi. I liked kissing this frail orphan from beyond the confines of his trapped life. But I tasted salt, wet and warm tears. I saw them streaming down his bruised face as he pulled away.
“Goodbye…knight.”
“Atsushi—“
He choked as he backed away from the fence. I wanted to climb over the fence and grab him, take him away right then and there but then I saw him…that foul faced man. Atsushi was retreating towards him…that foul faced man with bruised knuckles…
I wouldn’t see my dear prince that I promised to save until I was twenty—eight years later.

When the Oracle of Delphi speaks through Apollo telling the counsel that the 'first prophecy' is coming into play no one knows what that means. That is until the are transported into the past and only one god can have caused this. Now they have to either make sure that the 'first prophecy' is completed or a new better way of life is created.
