Summary
After an exhausting night in which she fell asleep on the couch in Yelena’s arms, Kate Bishop wakes up in an unfamiliar place—a makeshift operating room in which she’s being called upon to save lives. All the usual questions run through her mind: Where am I? How did I get here? How do I get home? What happened to Yelena? But before she can figure out the answers to those questions, she’s got to stop her patient from bleeding out!
My take on the Bishova September Week Day 4 prompt – AU Fiction (Sci-Fi/Fantasy).
“Doctor? Doctor? Doctor Bishop! He’s starting to bleed out.” A nurse at Kate’s own operating table broke through her disconnected attempts to make sense of her environment.
“Oh, shit!” the raven-haired now-surgeon muttered. What the hell was she doing? Where the hell was she? One minute she was cuddling with Yelena and the dogs on the couch after a particularly stressful patrol—she had remembered that much—and the next, she was here—wherever that was—with some young man’s life in her very much unqualified hands.

Yelena has spent a long time waking up-waking up from the trance of being a widow, waking up after being dust for five years, and waking up without her reproductive organs...something she may not have necessarily wanted to use,but may have wanted anyways.
Now she is waking up to the fact that after the battle of the Thunderbolts, visiting Kate in New York is nice. Kate is pleasant and strong and has a cute dog, and her hair smells nice...And dammit, Yelena is not completely comfortable with the feelings the archer is evoking.
Between Bucky and Walker trying to be her wingmen, Bob offering quiet encouragement, and Kate being ridiculously patient, Yelena slowly wakes up into the possibilities she didn't know were available to her.
