“Ouch, dude. Right to the heart.” Kirishima acted as if he’d been shot, putting his hand over his chest and slouching back in his seat, long past being offended by Bakugou’s insistence on making fun of his hair. He was starting to think the teasing was meant to be fond.
“You’re a loser.” Bakugou rolled his eyes as Kirishima grinned and sat up, leaning his elbows on the table. “Order something so we can get started.” Bakugou gestured to the books between them.
Kirishima nodded and clenched a fist in front of himself. “Right!” Date or not, he really did need to study to pass, and he really wanted to pass. He had to go on the camping trip with everyone else! (With Bakugou.)

“What the fuck was that!” Bakugou spluttered a shout, cheeks flushed.
“Wha—?” Kirishima started, then leaned back, his face the same color as his hair. “Sorry! That’s how my mom always checks my temperature!” He explained in a rush before Bakugou could blast him.
“You’re an idiot, and that’s a stupid method!” Bakugou shouted, his voice catching. “I am not sick!”

Maybe Bakugou’s mom talks in weird, circular ways just like her son, and maybe she meant that smack in the affectionate way that Bakugou sometimes smacks his shoulder or hits his head with rolled-up worksheets while they study. Maybe it’s not as bad as it feels like it might be. She does slip in backhanded compliments amid the insults. Bakugou’s dad is still just watching. Kirishima doesn’t really know what to think.

Sero nods. “It’s the chance of a lifetime, really,” he says. “We want you to date Bakugou, for the sake of his reputation with the press. Some public appearances, a few ‘candid’ photos. For at least a couple of months.”
“Bakugou sent you to ask me to date him?” Kirishima asks, baffled.
“Of course not. We, his people, are asking you to date him. He’s going to have to get on board, if he wants his career to survive. And in the bargain, Riot will get all sorts of publicity, because their lyricist will be dating one of the industry’s hottest stars. A win for everyone.”
When Kirishima Eijirou's band hits the big time, he's not prepared for his newfound fame. He's even less prepared to meet the actor he's been crushing on for years, or to start dating him as a publicity stunt. The closer Kirishima gets to Bakugou Katsuki, the more he realizes he's in over his head. But it's hard to stop, once his heart is in it.
