"Boba snuffled closer against him in his sleep, his small hand grasping at Obi-Wan’s tabards until they pulled aside. Without his undertunic, still sitting loosely on Boba’s own frame, this revealed enough of his chest that one nipple was exposed to the chill of the air. He shuddered and reached over, intending to pull the fabric back, but froze, staring down at his own chest as the nipple became pink and stiff in the cold.
He’d been too young himself on Melida/Daan, to have presented yet, but some of the older children, had already gone through puberty and emerged omega. The planet had been at war long enough that resources weren't wasted on things like suppressants and it hadn’t taken much time being surrounded by hungry babes for their bodies to respond. They had started producing stress induced prolactin, and then their milk had come in and they’d been able to feed at least a few hungry mouths.

Summary
Obi-Wan is about to go into heat, and he expects it to be a really nice affair, now that he knows what's happening and has a very lovely alpha to tend to him during the heat. He is not expecting for Qui-Gon, upon being asked, to hesitate instead of immediately saying yes.
Then again: Qui-Gon always has had a rather low opinion on himself. Good thing Obi-Wan has no qualms about threatening him with a pillow.

Summary
It's the most important event in an omega's life: the pearl ball, where every omega hopes to be claimed by an upstanding alpha. Obi-Wan, in contrast, just hopes to survive the night without becoming a target of ridicule or gossip, given House Kenobi's fall from grace.
It is safe to say, then, that when he strikes up a conversation with Qui-Gon Jinn, Duke of Serenno and celebrated war general, he most certainly is not expecting for that conversation to end with Duke Jinn laying claim to him.
