Summary
They have not spoken of the wings again since the explosion at the Intelligentsia Guild laboratory - save for once, one afternoon when Aventurine lay sprawled across Ratio’s lap, utterly exhausted, and Ratio’s hand paused as he threaded his fingers soothingly through Aventurine’s hair.
“You have no obligation to nor do I have any expectations of you, but I hope you will take care of your wings.” Ratio’s voice was quiet and careful, and when Aventurine turned to look up at him, he was still looking at the book in his other hand. Beams of gentle afternoon sunlight splayed across them both, catching the edges of Ratio’s hair and reflecting in his eyes, still on the pages but soft around the edges. “Naturally, should there be anything I can do for you, you have my full support. But should you prefer time and solitude, you need only say the word.”
Aventurine just hummed and rolled onto his side, hiding his face against Ratio’s stomach. Ratio was warm and solid against him. “We can talk about it later, Doc,” he said, words coming soft and slow and his eyelids growing heavy with sleep, “promise.”
Aventurine really did mean it - he still does.
It can’t be too late.

Summary
Phainon returns from an errand to a living nightmare, the people vanished and the town crawling with monsters. Desperate and injured, he goes through an empty torii gate and collapses. He wakes in a mysterious shrine and finds that he’s crossed into another world altogether.
“You don’t belong in this place.” Fox Mask is looking at Phainon, his voice rich and deep. “Go back.”

Disappointingly, the yokai wishes written on the plaques aren’t so different from that of humans, though Phainon does discover a bamboo tube of blessed water on a stone to the side. Ohhh, make that two. Looking forward, he feels his heart jolt. There’s no blue light on the path, no kitsune to be seen.
Should he call out? He’s just opening his mouth when there’s a puff of smoke, and then Fox Mask is standing over him, looking Extremely Unimpressed.
“I… I found this,” Phainon explains weakly, holding up the divine water.
Fox Mask’s non-expression doesn’t change. “If you want such trivial things, ask.”
“Oh.” He can? “Okay.”
“Hold my sleeve.”
Phainon balks at the command, but Fox Mask seems very intolerant at present.Knowledge of SHf not needed.
