Summary
Buck stares at the man in the brown jacket with a flower in his pocket for three entire minutes and, impossibly, the man is still Eddie Diaz. Eddie Diaz, his best friend, his straight best friend, is sitting at a table, at the cafe Buck is supposed to meet his blind date at, wearing the brown jacket with a flower in his pocket that his blind date is supposed to be wearing and it’s just not making a lot of sense.
Or, Buck goes on a blind date. Impossibly, so does Eddie.

Summary
“There are some rules,” Lena starts, but Eddie is already rolling his eyes.
“Let me guess, don’t talk about it?”
“I think that’s implied, with the whole ‘illegal fighting’ thing, but sure, let’s call that the first rule. It’s the second rule that’s important,” she stresses. “That’s what everyone is really there for.”
“What is it?”
“Whoever beats the omega gets the omega.”
Or:
Everybody knows the first rule of fight club. The second is more important.

Summary
Evan hates Doug Kendall.
He isn’t supposed to hate anybody. That’s what love thy neighbor means. Doug isn’t actually their neighbor, he lives a few streets over, but Maddie said that when God says neighbor, he means like if the whole world was a neighborhood. Evan thinks that God should just say that he means to love everybody, then, but one time he said that and Mom and Dad made him pick out a stick from the yard and they hit him until he cried, so he doesn’t say much about God anymore.
He can’t say that he hates Doug, either. Doug is friends with Mr. Brooks, and Evan doesn’t really like Mr. Brooks, but everybody else does. He even gets to give the sermons sometimes instead of Pastor Daniel. Mr. Brooks is nice, and he pays way more attention to him than Mom and Dad do, which Evan likes, and he even gave him a Hot Wheels car once, and sometimes in school he has other little treats just for Evan, but Evan still—he just doesn’t think that Maddie needs a Mr. Brooks, is all.
or: how Evan and Maddie make it out of Pennsylvania, and Buck and Maddie build a family.

Summary
He hasn’t gotten around to telling Buck about them being mates, or the whole… werewolf thing in general, but he’s working on it!
Werewolves are not known by the public, which is arguably the biggest hurdle. They still hide in the shadows, not willing to risk their existence becoming common knowledge in fear of what the consequences might be. Secrecy was something that had been drilled into his head as soon as he could understand what he was; keeping their gift a secret was the most important rule of their kind, and he’s hammered the same rule into Chris’ head once the boy learned what they were.
So, he will tell Buck, of course. Has to, if he wants to complete their bond - which he absolutely does - it’s just a matter of figuring out the best way to do so.
Or: In a world where werewolves exist and the Diaz family are all shifters, the aftermath of the tsunami might have looked a little bit different.
