Summary
What if Danny never learned the early lessons he was supposed to? What if he actually accepted Vlad's offer?
In this retelling of Danny Phantom, the canon beats of ghost fighting, school life, and family balancing exist in a new context: Friends and family become obstacles, powers turn into tools, and Vlad carefully reshapes Danny’s worldview. Familiar faces clash with new foes, an ancient predator sets its sights on a fresh hunt, and Danny's path is shaded just a few degrees darker.
This story contains darker themes than the original Danny Phantom but attempts to remain PG-13 and roughly in-theme with the canon vibe. However, it does take itself more seriously than the show. To that end, some of the slapstick humor and comic relief has been changed and toned down in favor of a more serious tone.
Non-explicit, limited swearing, somewhat above canon-typical violence. I am used to writing for a PG-16 or 18+ audience. I may write more emotionally mature themes on occasion.
Original characters present, but focus remains on canon characters and relationships. OCs mostly serve as worldbuilding or part of the rogues gallery.
Proofread but not beta read. Updates attempted on Saturdays!

'Shhhh. You’ll be okay.'
He squinted, trying to localize the voice. Only then did he notice the figure standing over him. Jack, he thought briefly. Jack’s finally come—but no. Though the man—boy?—did bear a striking resemblance to Jack Fenton, Vlad thought, he was smaller, scrawnier, younger perhaps."
Several years after the events of Phantom Planet, Danny determines an infallible plan to prevent hundreds of people from being hurt: comfort one lonely man in the hospital and support him as his world changes.
Could be read as either badger cereal (platonic Vlad & Danny) or Pompous Pep (Vlad/Danny).
