    Summary

Durin has learnt a lot about "courting" and "romance" from observing humans. He still doesn't really understand much, but according to his observations, he definitely thinks there's something "going on" between Albedo and Wanderer. Durin decides it's up to him to do something about it, and begins his great undertaking of a certain task he's heard of: the art of "match making".

Albedo was speechless for a moment before finally speaking up. “Durin,” he asked nicely, “just how many people did you ask about this?”

Wanderer watched with apprehension as Durin mentally counted on his fingers, distinctly feeling the physical sensation of a rock dropping into his stomach, as Durin’s two hands ran out of fingers and he had to start fresh on his left hand once again.

“You know what? Don’t answer that. Don’t answer that question.” Wanderer snapped.

    "Your... your blood is purple."

He said it with the quiet awe of a scientist noting a bizarre natural phenomenon. Then, the implication seemed to hit him. His brow furrowed. "Why is it purple?" He looked up at Wanderer, confusion warring with the lingering panic. "People have red blood. I've seen it. Even Albedo has red blood. Why is yours.. different?"

Wanderer closed his eyes for a moment. The question was a minefield. Because I’m not people. Because I was built, not born. Because the fluid that animates me is a blend of elemental essence and liquid ambition. "It's.. a long story," he finally managed, opting for evasion. "A side effect of a terrible diet."

in which, Durin finally visits Hat Guy after the transformation, but things don't go as planned...

    Summary

The night they fought, Diluc lost his voice, and Kaeya lost everything except his voice.

Now trapped within their late father’s Delusion, Kaeya’s doing whatever he can with words alone to keep Diluc tethered to reality, or at the very least to himself. But the only thing Diluc is tethered to is the fragile hope that somehow, if he searches far and wide enough, he’ll find a way to undo the horror he inflicted upon his brother.

    Summary

“Tell me, Master Diluc,” says Lumine. “Does the name ‘Khaenri’ah’ mean anything to you?”

He hums, and considers his words. “Sure it does,” he answers. “It’s a name that comes up often enough in fairy stories and folk tales. And any alchemist worth their salt would have at least some idea of where their art originates.”

Her eyes narrow — an accusation of falsehood, even if she won’t voice it aloud. “And that’s all you’ve heard?” she asks, evenly.

The look she gives him, then, is a familiar one — uncomfortably so, when he can sometimes feel his face contorting into the same, when he’s not careful. It speaks to a certain trust, splintered apart by circumstances out of one’s reach — a certain resolve that becomes unproductive when it can’t be so cleanly packaged away — a certain intolerance for secrets and lies, as the foundation upon which one stands crumbles into dust beneath them.

(Kaeya, crumpled in the grass — bleeding and broken, by Diluc’s own hand, and spared only barely by the whims of the frost collecting around them and a tiny, pale blue glass orb in his hand.)

“That’s all I can tell you,” says Diluc, “without further context of what exactly it is that you’re searching for.”
