Summary
In their final year of high school, Dib and Zim have just barely figured out how to stay friends for long enough to finish their physics homework together. But when Dib suddenly stops acting like himself, it's up to Zim to try and figure out how to get him back to normal. Purely for rivalry reasons, of course! It's not like he CARES about Dib or anything. That would be stupid ... right?
... Oh. Fuck.
Zim's got secrets and Dib's got a laundry list of issues but together, they might just make one functional person. And they're going to have to figure out how to work together fast if Zim wants to stay on Earth past the end of the week.
UPDATE JULY 8, 2020 -- This fic is not dead!!! It'll be returning in early August with Act 2. Conspiracy theories abound, so please bring your tinfoil hats >:3

“That’s enough for you.” Wolfwood helps him stand with a hand under his arm. Vash stumbles, catching himself with an arm around Wolfwood’s shoulders. He takes a look at the man in front of him. His fringe is damp from dancing and he has a slight blush from exertion. Vash can’t resist anymore.
He remembers what that woman did the other day.
Vash plays the part of being extremely drunk and leans forward, accidentally kissing Wolfwood on the lips, off-center to top it off. Then he leans his forehead on his shoulder. “I’m tired,” he whines, pretending like nothing happened. His ears and face are red but that can be blamed on the alcohol.

but, truthfully, saiki doesn’t really know how to explain it to anyone without sounding, in short, like a snivelling idiot, like someone who just can’t help but complain about how good he has it in life, as if the most beautiful girl in the school crushing on him is a bother - but he wishes he could. for all his telepathy, he can’t find a good way to say, hey, i think we’re better off as friends - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i like you in that way - or maybe, hey, i don’t think i can like you in that way.
“teruhashi-san,” he starts. he can hear her thoughts from a mile away even with the germanium ring. “i think i finally understand how you feel.”
“oh!” she flushes, surprised. hopeful, he knows. “about what?”
“expectations,” he says, and leaves it at that.
