Summary
A year ago, Colin was still searching every corner of the earth he could get to for a purpose.
A year later, in the house across the Square from his childhood home, he has found more purpose than most do in a lifetime.
He is grateful for all of it. Joyful, disbelieving at his own luck, and endlessly grateful.
But it is quite a lot to balance, now. He wonders often if he is truly up to the task.
_____
This is second in a series of Married Polin stories in which Colin and Penelope navigate what Happily Ever After actually looks like. Just because an initial love story gets a happy ending does not mean everything comes easily. There is work to maintain that HEA. Happy work. Work that is worth it. But still: WORK.

Summary
Before Penelope, Colin never thought about time.
He let the years slip past him without much notice. Lost an entire decade of his life to adventure and misbehavior. As each year ticked away, he felt a vague notion that it might be time to consider taking a wife but he never dwelled much on the idea, content with his casual companions.
Now he was obsessed with time.

Summary
"You might — you might pretend to court me," she says.
"You — what?" he asks dumbly. He feels dizzy, his mind working slowly as if he is wading through the lake.
"Just for a few weeks," she explains quickly. "Just to give me — room to breathe. Keep the alphas at bay for a short while."
She blinks up at him , so pretty and plump, her skin shining like polished porcelain in the moonlight. She has the loveliest little flush upon her chest now, blooming in pink patches that he cannot help but imagine beneath his lips.
"I shall pretend to court you," Colin repeats slowly, his eyes tracing over the tops of her breasts, his jaw working helplessly. "And you shall let me — let me bite?" He cannot believe the words dropping from his tongue. "Let me — let me play alpha?" There is a sort of ringing in his ears.
Penelope's eyes go very round then, her breaths coming out quick.
She nods.

Summary
Pen lay in bed, not sleeping. She may never sleep again. She had kissed Colin Bridgerton. Colin Bridgerton had kissed her.
Not just kissed. Properly kissed. Snogged. French-kissed. Made out. She now knew what it felt like to have his tongue slip against hers. How soft his bottom lip felt between her own. How perfectly their faces slotted together. The scratch and tingle of his five o’clock shadow rubbing against her face.
- Penelope Featherington has it all - a great job, her own money and a perfectly okay-ish lover who takes her mind off of the fact that Colin Bridgerton has left, again. Colin Bridgerton is fucking miserable. He has attempted to shake off his feelings by flirting with every woman in Sydney and going on a string of dates, each as unsuccessful as the last because they could all see almost instantly that he was infatuated with his best friend. He couldn’t not talk about her. It was torture. And now she had obviously started seeing someone, and he was too far away to do anything about it. He was a prize idiot for taking so long to realise he wanted more. And now it might be too late. -
