He recalled how Hua Cheng’s hands had moved over his body, while his own feared to do much beyond clutch Hua Cheng’s shoulders. He wondered what he might do when Hua Cheng returned, imagined the puff of ghost breath on his bare skin, the cold fingers of the Ghost King skating down his limbs, and he shook under the weight of his imaginings, and each day he was filled with fresh tides of longing.
