Summary
6 years after the first Kaiju attack on Earth, the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, known to most simply as the Jaeger program, is in a golden age. A group of Jaeger pilots heralded by the media as the Generation of Miracles seem to be turning the tide of the war. Then out of the blue, their most successful Jaeger, Cobalt Ace, goes down in a freak accident. Kagami Taiga, an American PPDC trainee, is transferred to the Tokyo Shatterdome.
As it turns out, getting into the program was the easy part. Now Kagami has to reckon with the Drift. Aomine Daiki is not at all who he seemed to be. Given the mysterious disappearance of his former co-pilot, the red tape surrounding the incident itself – it’s clear that whatever went wrong on his last run poses a serious risk.
Meanwhile, a stranger haunts the shatterdome, confined to the shadows. Kagami’s future, and maybe even the fate of the world rests on the program's success. They say there are no secrets in the drift, yet the ones surrounding the pilots of Cobalt Ace threaten to overturn Kagami’s entire reality.
Will Kagami realize his lifelong dream of piloting a Jaeger and lead the world into the light beyond the encroaching darkness? With whom?

“Do you have to wear your crown all the time?” Aomine asked, wiping sticky jam on his tunic. He’d asked Kise what felt like hundreds of questions, and they were ones the Prince was happy to answer— For once it wasn’t about boring stuff like politics or homework.
It was magical. It was a breath of fresh air.
“No,” Kise answered, feeling warm as sunlight as he spent his first afternoon slacking off. “Only when my dad’s got important people around. You can try it on sometime if you want.”
“You mean that?” Aomine’s blue eyes went wide as saucers. “Holy crow.”

Summary
The things that make Vash who he is are so disparate and contradictory and so, so human that Wolfwood forgets on occasion that he isn’t: it’s only when Vash doesn’t eat for days and seems none the worse for it, or when he plucks the pin feathers that sprout on occasion along his hairline that Wolfwood is reminded that, despite all their hours together, a yawning chasm still stretches between what he knows and what there is yet to discover about the Humanoid Typhoon.
The gauge of what is normal and what isn’t for Vash uses metrics that Wolfwood cannot even begin to attempt to define, but about a month into their sojourn to JuLai, some time between run-down rest stops and no-name towns, Wolfwood begins to notice that something about Vash seems… off .- Language:
