“Prepare for Neural Handshake.” Minho warns, and begins to count down.
“Are you ready for this?” Chan asks, flexing his fingers.
No, Felix wants to say, knee jerk and tinged with the anxiety that something will go wrong. But that would be a lie. He’s been ready since he flipped Chan on the mat, staring down at his flushed face and wishing more than anything to crawl under his skin.
“Are you?”
It gets a smile from Chan, and that feels a little like a victory.
or: Felix hasn't been inside of a Jaeger in months, still recovering from an accident that almost cost him everything, and Chan is forever running from the sharp edges of his own mind, even at the cost of the people most important to him.

Summary
Chan thinks he's good at hiding the fact he's in love with Felix.
He's not.
For years, Chan loves him in all the quiet ways he can survive: love letters that he will never send, warm baths drawn after difficult nights, fingers brushing together against piano keys, slow dances stolen between royal obligations, and marigolds blooming faithfully beneath palace windows.
But love like this cannot survive silence forever.
Or: Chan spends years loving Felix silently and as Chan stands in a ballroom while another person waits to marry him, he finally realises there is no version of his future that survives losing Felix.

And if that loud, bright-eyed hockey player thought this would be easy, Minho would make sure it wasn’t."

Summary
Felix has been unlucky with his heart. He thought he'd found someone worth taking a risk, someone who thought he was worth it too.
But now he's back to square one, swimming in an uncertainty and distrust in himself he'd worked hard to overcome. As if that wasn't bad enough, he's feeling cast aside by his fellow members. Maybe it's not just his heart people don't want, but him in general.Seungmin sees Felix feeling discarded like last year's favorite toy and goes into protective puppy mode, making it his mission to be sure Felix doesn't lose that shine and confidence that makes him their sunshine boy.
Maybe first loves fizzle out and aren't meant to be, but second times find a way to make it right.
