As Harry stared up at the primordial being that was death, he didn't know what to think. On the one hand, he had fought hard for this life, for this world. Tired of the people he once called family and tired of the looks and the words shackling him to the image of The-Boy-Who-Lived. An image he never was, and could no longer become.

Compared to the first 17 years of his life, life in the Coast Guard was actually pretty relaxing for one Percy Jackson. He was barely 20 years old and he had already been promoted to a Petty Officer 1st Class, and so could afford the modest apartment that he and Annabeth shared across the hall from his Mom and Paul. And in another year, he’d be promoted, get his commission, marry Annabeth, and live happily ever after now that the gods were finally leaving him alone.
