She pushed the tape in and pressed play.
Static, then the image cleared.
What looked like a dorm room, blue and green plaid spread on the bed, posters on the wall she couldn’t quite make out. The camera was angled down, aimed directly at the bed.
A girl sat on the bed, smiling at something off camera. She was pretty, maybe twenty.
What the fuck?
Then a guy walked into frame. Dark hair that flopped over his forehead, strong jawline. A smattering of hair dusted his bare chest and disappeared down into his jeans. “I think it’s working. Still into it?”
“Yes.” Laughing, the girl pulled off her shirt, leaving her in a bright pink bra. “Let’s see how hot we are.”
He crossed to the bed and leaned down to kiss her. The girl’s hands trailed down his chest and popped the button of his jeans while he cupped her face.
Oh. Oh my god.

So different from his voice down on the severed floor and in the tent; it had been desperate and cracking like a little boy's, each word buoyant. Now he just sounds pissed. "Nice parking job, by the way."
"I would’ve parked in the driveway, but your sports cars were in the way."

"It could be kind of fun," he tells her over his own styrofoam cup of watered-down coffee. Gemma's a little shocked by the light she finds in his eyes; of the two of them, he's certainly never been the optimist when shit's not going to plan. She feels him nudge her under the table.
She shakes her head in disbelief. They just found out they don't get to go back home, and he wants to play footsie.

Harmony Cobel decides to proceed with an unorthodox policy, and the company keeps Mark S. trapped inside the severed floor, away from MDR and unable to escape. Devon will stop at nothing to get her brother back, and Petey won't give up until he finds Mark again.

Set in the Petey era of MDR, pre-season 1. Please read the author's note at the beginning as it clarifies some stuff. I love Severance so much I could chew through metal. This show made me insane and I'm forever thankful.

Summary
Cats clean their babies like this. He knows that because Petey told him about it, swore he’d seen a mother cat and all her babies in the storage closet one time. They lived behind the mops, and he’d just sat there and watched them all get cleaned one by one.
Mark had said bullshit, but he’d thought about it all day anyhow. A little soft thing, taking care of something even smaller. Even gentler. And the next time he went in the storage closet, he left some crushed potato chips on a post it, just in case they’d like to try.
