Play was called and medics from Boston and Montreal rushed on. Shane could feel his heart beating out of his chest.
Get up Ilya, come on baby, get up.
He was stood waiting, trying so desperately to just seem like a concerned opposing player. When in reality Shane felt like his heart was being ripped in two. He had just about convinced himself to sit down, that Ilya would be back up with his cocky smirk in no time; then he saw the blood splattered on the ice.
OR
Ilya gets injured in a game against the Voyagers, and our poor anxious baby Shane goes to pieces. Everything is exposed on the ice and nothing will ever be the same again.

Shane didn't even take his eyes off the TV—which was showing a Montreal versus Boston game—to reply:
“I think you already taught me. I'm great with Clipclop and—“
“That is not the kind of riding I meant.”
Shane's cheeks reacted before he could: they turned that flushed shade that drove Ilya crazy. But the best part was when Shane finally turned to him, with those bright eyes that looked like two blackberries.
It took a great effort from Ilya not to jump on the other man right there."
Or: They are cowboys. Ilya teaches Shane how to ride.

The locks on Ilya’s car clicked, and he waited for Shane to look up at him. “Get in,” he ground out between clenched teeth.
Shane was hardwired to follow Ilya’s every command. It was coded into his genetics, he thought, because the deep pull in the pit of his stomach to follow the accented order couldn’t be normal. He hated that part of him that was so willing, so ready to submit. Maybe it could be explained away by some sort of psychological terminology he was unfamiliar with, a desire to relinquish control, to relax and let someone else take the wheel for once in his rigid life.
And maybe it was just Ilya.
In Episode 4, Shane leaves the nightclub with Rose. In the book, he leaves alone.
But what if he had left with Ilya instead?

Summary
The entire day got to him. Shane showed up in his brown jacket, looking impossibly soft and terribly addicting, and then Ilya immediately took him to bed. There was no other choice when Shane Hollander was in your house looking like that. It did things to Ilya’s heart that he had yet to dissect, hadn’t wanted to examine for very specific reasons.
He didn’t mean to say it.
