It’s been three months since the Barrens incident, as we’ve taken to calling the not-so-dearly-departed Aetos’s botched attempt to trade Violet Sorrengail to the venin in exchange for Navarre’s continued safety. Three months since that fucking rapist attacked Violet and tricked Xaden into throwing her out. Three months since she told him she wasn’t coming back.

“What do you want, Vi?” he asked a moment later. “What can I do for you?”
Peeling her forehead from his bare chest, Violet peered up at him. He peered back, the dark eyes boring into her so intense her breath hitched.
“Sex,” she supplied, succinct and to the point.
A bark of surprised laughter shook him, vibrated her to her very bones. He was everything she could see. Everything she could hear, smell, feel, touch. There was a small, neglected voice in the back of her mind that screamed that he was everything, period, but Violet refused to listen. She always refused to listen, because she always banked on melting back into the sea of complicated feelings of desire and dislike Xaden Riorson managed to bring out in her. So far, it always had.
But so far, this was the first time Xaden had his cock inside her as well. Maybe that was why the voice seemed a little louder this time, a little more believable.

“Violet?” Rhiannon’s response sounds confused. “You’re always fighting about something with Riorson, but it’s eight in the morning right now.”
Violet shakes her head, like her friend could see her and exhales. “No, Rhi.” she says, taking a deep breath before speaking this time. “I fucked Xaden Riorson.” she repeats, stressing the words.
The line goes quiet and then she hears a loud thump and a muffled swear. “Come again, please?” Rhiannon’s voice is more high pitched now, shocked.

When Xaden Riorson (unintentionally) halts an important deal his family company is trying to close thanks to the emotionless asshole mask he's developed over the years, his dad decides to punish him ... by making him work a customer service job for a minimum of six months.
Since he can't find the bakery for his favorite chocolate cake, there was only one other place in Aretia Xaden even considered: Twin Summons Coffee, figuring the cake would at least make up for having to deal with the hell that is customer service.
But every job has its perks - even if they're unexpected ...

Working at a coffee shop was not something I had expected to do in my life - especially not at 24-years-old, post-master's degree. I expected to be learning the reins at Riorson Enterprises, in order to eventually take over the family business from my father.
But no. I'm here at Twin Summons Coffee, for a bare minimum six months, all because of one fucking Catriona Cordella.
