Summary
No matter how many times they meet and his eyes flicker with dim recognition, whether it’s at the dive bar on Beacon Street or the French cafe near TD Garden, she wonders which will happen first: Ilya Rozanov realizing she’s twins with the guy he’s been hooking up with since his rookie season, or that he’s in love with said guy.
Of course, she also feels the same curiosity every time Shane tells her he has to end it, only to fall right back into Rozanov’s lap.
Boys are so dumb, honestly. It’s a shame she’s quite fond of them both.

I've been know to sacrifice quality in oc insert stories i read if the premise is interesting enough, but im so glad to say that nothing is being sacrificed here at all. Rachel is wonderfully written character, the relationship between the hollanders is so actually realistic in its complexity, and I find her inability to say things that would clearly comunicate the issues she's having so relatable actually (which is actually also a very Shane thing to do, to find reasons why you feeling bad about something is actually selfish or silly or unnecessary), her refusal to let herself think that her achievements are impressive too (and not in the "its a fact deserving of acknowledgement that she got there by herself" way she does at the beginning) because if she acknowledges that together with the fact that she feels her parents are still sidelining her for Shane it might feel even worse, that even her impressive achievements are not enough to merit her parents' attention, so its better for her to downplay herself. She thinks she's sooo good at communication, and she is, she is very very good at speaking with others and still being unable to say what is actually wrong.
Very very exited about continuing this. -

“You’re…” His voice goes low, almost stunned. “Hard again?”
Shane leans up just enough to press a shaky kiss to Ilya’s mouth—soft, desperate, clinging. “Never—” he whispers against his lips, “I never went soft.”
or Shane in subspace for the first time. (and he cums three times just because)

Lily: You are hiding from me.
Jane: I’m not! I’m busy.
Lily: Busy losing. You play better when I fuck you.+++
Embarrassed by his very public and short-lived fling with Rose, Shane goes to great lengths to avoid Ilya.
He’s unprepared for just what Ilya will do to win him back.

Summary
No serious hockey fan or sports commentator worth their salt would have considered record-breaking Boston superstar Ilya Rozanov to be Shane Hollander’s rival exactly, but sleeping with a man who had a specific offense-related vendetta against him and a wrist shot like a jet engine to back it up was probably ill-advised just the same.
Or, Shane is a goalie. Ilya can’t score.

Love love love the approach Shane and ilya have in this version: as they started hooking up later, Shane is a bit more sure of himself in their uhh, dalliances (lol) than canon Shane, and bc theyre not directly competing the rivalry aspect of their relationship is still there but a bit more lowkey which I think allows for better/more genuine communication between them, also very much love the actual hockey parts of this and the differences from canon that shanes change of position brings to his experience in the nhl/as a profesional hockey player, the whole thing of him still being an impressive player, but taking longer to be recognized/get to that point
Also, misha is sooooo cute, loved him from his very first apperance, my be one of my top 3 favourite hr OCs ever
