Summary
Laurence had consigned himself to the idea of court-martial; to execution, if necessary.
He was less willing to be kept alive as a restraint on Temeraire. Temeraire, forced to wallow in the breeding grounds; Temeraire, two years old and doomed because of him.
When he's knocked from the Goliath during the invasion of England, and taken captive by French navy-men, he does not plea for leniency or special treatment. But Laurence gets it, soon enough; and he doesn't care to plead for his freedom either.- Language:

Summary
It’s a challenge, plain and simple. Muzan doesn’t like it. Even though he’s willingly taken a human like you to be his partner, the sheer amount of disrespect you show never ceases to irritate him. And yet... he can’t bring himself to kill you. Something about your attitude is entertaining. You’re not a threat to him, not in the slightest, and you show so little fear that he can’t help but be entertained by the bravery of one pitiful creature that’s you.
Dealing with you is frustrating and amusing at once. You’re never outright rebellious, but the challenges you issue keep him entertained. And besides, destroying you, at this point, would amount to admitting defeat.
“What are you suggesting?” he questions with annoyance, unable to look away from the strange, appalling object held plainly in your hands.
. . .
Muzan gets pegged and hates (loves) every second of it.
