Of course, Ed noticed her right away. How could he not? The detective, the female one on the phone - he saw her posture go rigid under his gaze. It was always like this. An alpha enters a room an omega is in and there’s always that tense moment of acknowledgement. Typically he would maybe give them a slight nod and nothing more but he was surprised by what he saw when he looked at the omega sitting at her desk.
She looked up at him and any other place or time he might have noticed the angle of her strong jaw, her hair in its pixie cut, the curves she hid under a bulky coat. He didn’t see any of that. All he saw were eyes that held nothing but pure contempt when they looked at him.
