Tav looks at him, eyes wide. In the faint blue glow of the sussur tree, he can see the terror in her eyes as she crumples to the ground. The scent of the blood that she is all too rapidly losing, the strained rattle as she coughs up more; instead of rousing hunger in him, it makes him sick.
“No, you can’t die – get up, damn you!”
For a moment he tries to tell himself that it’s their tadpoles that make him feel that same fear, but he knows better; knows it’s because it’s Tav, and she can’t just go and die on him, not when he is starting to–

"I had a plan. A nice, simple plan. Seduce you. Sleep with you! Manipulate your feelings so you never turn on me."
A plan that, from the very first moments of meeting Tav, crumbled like cinders right before Astarion's eyes. For with each tearing of his inner walls with her words and charm and care, the rubble repaired the masonry of his heart. Each step of the plan mended and broke to her in ways he hadn't even realized until far later when he realized just how incredible she truly was.
