When Caitlyn releases one hand to cup under Vi’s jaw, tilting her head up until their noses are brushing— she knows this is where they’re going to meet their destiny: on a path forked like a snake’s tongue. For better or for worse.
“Why have we never kissed?” Caitlyn asks, mouths so close that Vi can feel her words.
Vi’s fist tightens on her back, crumpling the material of her tank top in it. “Because we shouldn’t.”

Across the bank, across the years, across everything, Vi’s eyes lock on-
Caitlyn.
She’s sprinting before she fully gives her legs permission to move; she pushes aside Wardens who still sort of know her, even if their parents were the ones to fully contend with Vi in her prime, and she falls to her knees and reaches for Caitlyn’s wet, soaking, shivering, shaking shoulders, and Caitlyn is trying to speak, coughing and retching and alive, alive, alive.
“Vi?” she whispers, voice wrecked and waterlogged and broken, warming Vi’s neck with the heat of her breath. “Vi, Violet, it’s you, you’re real, I saw you, you’re here-”
“I’m here.”

Summary
Vi shouldn't have been surprised to learn that Caitlyn and Maddie were dating. They made sense in a way Caitlyn and Vi never did, but that doesn't mean the revelation hurt any less. Well, time for Vi to push the pain inside and ignore it until she dies, like any normal well adjusted adult would do!
When Maddie insisted the three of them head out for some drinks to relax for a short while after the fight against Ambessa, Vi didn't see why not. To Vi's delight, a very familiar face from Stillwater came to join the group on their night out.
Vi doesn't think she's ever seen Caitlyn so pissed off in her entire life.
