Even if you cover its dark shaggy fur in wool and hide its glinting amber eyes. Even if you manage to convince the beast itself, if only for a time, that it is not a predator amongst prey. No matter how hard you pray that it will not act as a wolf does when you lay it out to pasture with your herd.

There happened to be a ship heading to Bandomeer, and the Jedi Corps there was in need of a ploughman - and apparently since Obi-Wan hadn’t found the favor of a Jedi Master by the age of almost-thirteen, that was all he was good for.
Or: the fic where instead of ending up with Qui-Gon Jinn as his master, Kenobi ends up dragged into a mess decades in the making - Dark Jedi with grudges, Sith that are more than just bedtime stories to scare Initiates with, and an ability that Kenobi would never, ever call a Gift.
