The memory searching aspect of Manacled is what inspired me, and although I have adapted that, (and also made Draco head Death Eater, because... ya know... we all love it when he's Voldemort's right hand man 😅😉), Secrets and Masks will be a very very different fic all together.

Summary

After the war, Draco Malfoy pays his debt in Azkaban while his closest friend, Theodore Nott, finds love and forgiveness in the heart of Hermione Granger. Draco returns to a very different world than he left behind, and he must come to terms with his place in his friends' lives as well as the world at large.
At first he isn't sure what Theo sees in the Muggleborn swot from their childhood, but eventually he comes to understand all too well. Conflicted and full of self-loathing he flees rather than see them marry.
Years later, tragedy brings him back to England—and back to her.
Widowed and untethered, Hermione is not looking for love. Draco is not foolish enough to offer it. Loving her once felt impossible; loving her now feels like betrayal.
But grief does not erase history. And second chances rarely come without cost.

Summary
Hermione, as usual, has done the impossible. She has found a cure for the obliviate spell, and she is eager to present her findings to the wizarding world at large. The problem is, the wizarding world reacts to this discovery in the only way the wizarding world can--pure mayhem. Hermione is attacked when presenting her research at St. Mungo's, and she finds herself rescued by a masked man in tactical gear. Only, he's using a gun... and a wand?
Draco has been forced into servitude along with every other child of the death eaters. It wasn't a choice to join the underground task force, but he does rather excel at it. As he does. The Knights, all of whom go by code names and operate in the shadows, carry out their orders with deadly precision. They do not usually play bodyguard to other witches and wizards.
Hermione is the exception. Draco is tasked with keeping Hermione alive, protecting her from what seems to be a muggle army. Or zombies. They're not exactly sure. Only, Hermione has no idea who is behind the mask. All she knows is that a Knight has been sent to her flat, H3. And she's stuck with him.
