Summary
Dean Winchesters attempts suicide on a dirty motel bathtub, ending brain dead on a hospital. A trickster promises John and Sam that he will save him for “free”, as long as they both get through watching a series of Dean´s memories, good and bad. The twist is that they will feel everything Dean did at the time and they can stop it at any time, but then Dean will die. They both accept thinking it cant be that bad. Spoiler: it is worse.

Dean’s bi: sexual and polar. He’s got a string of hospitalizations under his belt. He’s a felon. He’s got a secret. And he just might have a crush on the wry, socially awkward, and devastatingly handsome artist who lives in the apartment below his. But Dean doesn’t have friends, and he certainly doesn’t have relationships. He has what his therapist Pam calls “impulsive, reckless sexual interactions.” His attempts at meaningful connection have resulted in ruined friendships, broken hearts, restraining orders, and lifechanging ramifications. God is dead. Sammy finally has what he always wanted. The kid is alive again and trying to figure out the whole human schtick. Cas – Cas is complicated, like always. And Dean is barreling headfirst into a mental breakdown. It’s the end of the road so far, and the future never looked so frightening.
“I can’t,” Dean stammers into Cas’s chest. “With you – I can’t.” And Cas goes very still, stops rubbing his hand up and down Dean’s back. But I want to. Please, Cas, don’t leave me. Because I want to.
“Dean,” Cas says, still not moving. “I can tell you’re praying to me, but I can’t hear you. I’m sorry.”
An alternate ending to the series, focusing a lot on *feelings* and *mental health* and *processing trauma* – because, you know, what’s better than that?
