Summary
Silent as the night and deadly as the dawn. The infamous Lin Kuei is a feared clan of assassins and hated rivals of the Shirai Ryu. The clan notoriously snatches children they deem to be of possible merit, especially if those children show promise of unique abilities. This tale, follows one of their warriors, the younger brother of Sub-Zero, Kuai Liang as he struggles to prove himself a pride to his clan and not just Bi-Han's softer brother. His life seems to take a turn upon the introduction of Tomas Vrbada, a boy who can turn into smoke and he finds himself growing seeds of doubt towards his clan. Of which becomes more secretive even towards its own members. Not helped by strange man calling himself Haokah, who seems oddly relaxed around Lin Kuei assassins.

Born from a stone egg on Flower-Fruit Mountain in the island chain of Alolai, Stone Monkey seeks a family to join. He is met by another monkey, the Six-Eared Macaque who takes him to their family where he joins. The two quickly form a brotherly bond with Six-Ears being the elder. Neither of them expect what is to become of themselves or even fathom what's to come. Nor how their bond will eventually wither away due to bitterness, then hatred.

Summary
An alternate universe/timeline, focused primarily on Kuai Liang. The elder Sub-Zero, Bi-Han, killed the Shirai Ryu warrior, only to get killed by his specter after the clan was suddenly wiped out. Leaving, Kuai Liang as the Sub-Zero to partake in Shang Tsung's tournament to decide the fate of Earthrealm. However, the Lin Kuei's corruption rears itself, causing him to defect but that's something they don't take kindly to. Now, Kuai Liang is felt on his own to try and decide his own fate and what he wants to stand for. Also, sassy Raiden who actually does helpful stuff.

“What if I told him, hm?”
Burning Spice lifted his gaze. Shadow Milk’s voice was silk, yet rotten, as his arm reached out beyond them both, to the door.
“Would he seek your acceptance, even then? Would he seek you as a tutor?” Another psychotic giggle. “Would he want to be taken under the wings of a mass murderer—”
Burning Spice's hand snapped up to Shadow Milk’s wrist.
“You will not step foot anywhere within my son's proximity, or I will tear you apart, limb by limb.”
Silence dropped heavily on the room. All movements halted. The fog dissipated.
It took him a long, long second to realize the grave mistake he had made, as his eyes widened. At the same time, Shadow Milk’s fixed gaze on the door turned to him slowly.
Just as the other's mouth parted—
“Your…son.”
The words did not belong to Shadow Milk.
What if Capsaicin reached Burning Spice's room sooner than he was supposed to?

They locked gazes, blinking. Golden, curious eyes staring at him with questions. Probably thinking about who this new, unfamiliar cookie was.
Burning Spice did not move, still watching, still calculating, still—
The laughter of a child echoed.
He froze for the second time in his life.
For the same reason he did the first time.
Burning Spice ached.
