Summary
After three long years, the Great Detective returns to London, supposedly back from the dead.
The people cheer, the people praise his name, welcoming him back home with open arms, as what is deserved for the hero; the savior.
But what of the Lord of Crime?
Is the legacy he left behind nothing but hate, nothing but countless mouths spitting curses and curses upon his name? Is his demise meant to be forgotten, and his riddance be a greater good?
There will always be small voices asking for help, he once said, and there were indeed small voices he did help; voices that don’t quite agree with the mass. Voices that matter.

“Ah, pardon my overreach. I suppose I got a little ahead of myself,” he apologizes quickly, feeling his cheeks heat up, a little ashamed to be so easily swept up in his excitement at the promise of a problem to solve.
Sherlock barks out a short, jubilant laugh, sliding his hand into his jacket pocket to retrieve one of his cigarettes, placing it between his lips before returning for his matches next. “Liam,” matches located, Sherlock lights up his cigarette and takes a long drag, exhaling the smoke unhurriedly towards the window next to him, “It is a true pleasure to have ya aboard.”
~After the events of Vermissa, William is ready to begin his new mission under Pinkerton Detective Agency. Side-by-side with Sherlock and Billy, they agree to investigate a series of seemingly random attacks on a garment factory in the warehouse district that have recently escalated. All while trying to navigate not only his new role as an official detective on the other side of the law, but his burgeoning feelings for the detective who saved his life.

Summary
As William faces his first New York winter with a weakened body and a healing heart, he and Sherlock fall into a comfortable new habit -- and maybe something more.
William's body feels unusually heavy, nestled as he is under a reassuring weight. He flexes his fingers, finding them curled around soft fabric. The warmth cocooning him takes on new meaning — it’s early November, and the mornings are often quite chilly. That’s another reason he doesn’t tend to stay in bed too long, preferring to heat his cold fingers with a steaming cup of coffee and curl up on his seat before the fireplace.
When he dares to lift his eyelids, he’s not as surprised as he might have expected to find his cheek pillowed on Sherlock’s forearm, with his hand clinging to an end of Sherlock’s loose nightshirt collar.
