Summary
No-one asks to be a Second-Timer. Life is hard enough once - to go through it again, bearing the memories and regrets of a lifetime, would be bad enough even if it wasn't a social stigma.
Jack doesn't know why he's suddenly waking up screaming and bearing scars he never earned. He doesn't know why he apparently died young and terrified, full of regrets. He just knows he's not interested in being sent away to programs for Second-Timers, even if he might meet other kids like himself, and he doesn't want to keep remembering the life he'd failed to live properly the first time.
He does wish he could remember who Alexander was, though, and why he'd died thinking of him.

Summary
Stunned by the knowledge that Bucky survived the fall that should have ended his life in 1945 and that he has been in HYDRA custody for 70 years, Steve Rogers is left wracked with grief and guilt. Reeling with emotion, Steve only has one choice... to fight for the man he made a vow to all those years ago, for better, for worse.
*****
This takes place immediately after the fight in DC, but this time Bucky ends up in the custody of the Avengers. Lots of recovery but also lots of action! There's not a ton of plot but I'm just here for the relationship anyway :)

YOU: Kim says I’m a good cop.
SUGGESTION: Then Kim isn’t a good cop, either. And if this job can make someone like *him* think a bit of head-bashing is acceptable… then what is it doing to *you*?
YOU: Oh my god.
HALF-LIGHT: You need to fucking quit.
VOLITION: You need to fucking quit.
EMPATHY: You need to fucking quit.
ESPRIT DE CORPS: Wait, what??

'Oh!' said Jo. 'There’s this—' She glanced at the Brigadier. 'Terrorist or something. I think. He calls himself the Master.'
'Do you often,' asked Dr. Fischer, 'spend your holidays drunkenly impersonating terrorists?'
'Mostly just the one,' said Jo.
'Right.'
'It’s very funny, I promise,' said Jo earnestly. 'It’s only that the Brigadier is giving me the stink eye so I don’t think that I’m allowed to tell you why.'
