Durza is a fine example of a shade: perfect and well rounded, with a taste for torture and arrogance. What does he do in his spare time? Taunting his subordinates and a co-worker. “Well… we do need to care a little. Some viruses cause more severe infections than others. Influenza, for example, is pretty inconvenient for most people. It can cause nausea, fever, nose leaking, aches, coughing, and more. It can even be deadly for people with weak immune systems, like children or the very old. We definitely take it seriously when someone vulnerable gets infected. Influenza is one of the diseases we vaccinate for. Who remembers what vaccination is?”
The entire class raised their claws. Grace facepalmed.
“Right, duh. Forget I asked.”
♪Cannot forget.♪ Someone chimed, eliciting several giggling thrills.

Ryland Grace has an annoyingly short lifespan by Eridian standards. Rocky fix. Good thing Grace is there to teach the Eridians everything they need to know about human biology.

Summary
Mark Watney has survived 118 sols on Mars, and he wouldn’t exactly say it’s been a cakewalk, but he only has about three more years of listening to disco to go (ugh) before Ares IV picks him up and take him home. But when something crashes on the Martian surface only a few kilometers from the Hab, NASA wants him to leave the safety of his little home on the Martian prairie to go investigate…what could possibly go wrong?
Ryland Grace has survived a long time in space and almost a decade on Erid, but the anxiety of not knowing if the beetles made it to Earth finally drives him to try the dangerous journey back home, and Rocky and Adrian come with him. Everything was actually going pretty good…until a horrible accident leaves them hurtling through space (and time) with no choice but to crash land on the wrong planet.
How is Watney going to deal with the unexpected company (and their weird secretiveness over why they were in space)? Is Grace going to be able to adjust to being around another human being again? And how are Rocky and Adrian going to handle the uncertainty of a reception to an Earth that’s never heard of aliens before?
More importantly…how the fuck is NASA going to get them all home alive?

It’s been nearly 27 years since Eva Stratt forced Ryland Grace to board the Hail Mary and sent him off to his death for the greater good of mankind. Meanwhile, Eva and the Project Hail Mary team have been fighting a losing battle against the cooling sun—and their own demons—trying to make sure there were still people to be saved by the time the crew could send a solution home. Right on schedule, the beetles are returning to Earth, hopefully with the answer to saving the world.
