Summary
Waking up a stranger in a strange land is not what Lillian Ashford would consider an adventure. It's confusing, scary, and she has no idea what she is supposed to do next. There are only a few things she knows for sure: She's really in Nibelheim; it's only months at best before Genesis Rhapsodos gets himself injured and starts the downward spiral that eventually leads to the world almost getting destroyed; and if she's stuck living on Gaia for the foreseeable future she isn't about to let it go down without trying to change things first.
The question now is... how? The man sleeping in a coffin inside the Shinra mansion might bring the beginning of the answer.
2020/07/02 Fic named changed from "Redemption". I renamed it so I could use the old title as a series's title instead. Does that mean this will have a sequel? Only time will tell 0_0

Summary
Itachi had done many things he wasn't proud of. No matter how one might try to justify it, he had undeniably committed unforgivable crimes for what he believed to be the greater good. To make matters even worse, despite his best efforts, his actions hadn't ended up in Sasuke's favour at all, causing him only even more pain instead. The one thing he could confidently say he had done right was stopping the Edo Tensei and showing Sasuke the whole truth, but that didn't make up for a lifetime of mistakes.
With that in mind, waking up as a child nearly twenty years in the past was understandably a shock. After all, weren't there others who deserved a second chance more than he did? People who could do more good than him?
It was he who had ultimately been granted this opportunity, however, so it was up to him to seize it and create a better future. One in which his clan didn't have to die, Madara would be stopped, and, most importantly of all, Sasuke could be happy.
Itachi was going to make sure of it.

Summary

Summary
A canon re-write starting with a mission gone wrong after the Land of Waves Arc, starring:
Danzō as the ultimate evil mastermind that we all long to see suffer because he IS the Dolores Umbridge of the Naruto world.
Naruto and Sasuke slow-burning their way through the usual stages of frenemies->friends->lovers while saving the world and the people they care about the most.
Konoha 13 growing into the badass new generation we know and love.
Itachi fighting fate as usual but this time maybe, just maybe securing a future for himself and everyone he already sacrificed so much for.
And Kakashi, growing into a functional human being, stepping up in his role as teacher, embracing his new family (and totally embracing Iruka-sensei somewhere in there) and having to fight the world to the death to be able to keep any of these good things life offered him - as usual.- Words:
