Summary
Otacon and Solid Snake parted ways after Shadow Moses on less than amicable terms as their budding romance suddenly soured. Now Otacon needs Snake for his new venture, a project called "Philanthropy" that can hopefully right the wrongs they had caused, either via their direct action or willful inaction.
These two are going to have to get over the past hurt and present stubbornness if they have any hope of forming a workable alliance.

Summary
In the months following Snake's final mission, he lives life to the fullest until his body can't keep up with him anymore. Wasting away in a Manhattan apartment, watching Otacon's mental state deteriorate day by day, it seems like this is simply how their story comes to an end. Unbeknownst to him, Otacon isn't ready to give up—and neither is Sunny.
Persuaded to try experimental gene therapy far away from home, Snake finds himself realizing just how much he's been willfully ignoring about those closest to him... and just how much he will lose, if this doesn't work.
