The bloke starts in his seat, obviously not expecting the weird, wet kid addressing him.
Merlin belatedly realises they’re still in a library and he might have spoken a bit too loud. He continues in a whisper.
“Have you finished that?” He points at the cup.
“My… drink?”
God, this was a horrendous idea.
“Yes, your drink.”
The look he gives him almost makes Merlin feel crazier than he already does.
Or,
Merlin breaks his finger, has a really bad time, and on top of it all he has to ask the only other bloke at his library table for help

That impression does not last.
