On the same day that he realizes he has lost track of how many Tuesdays he’s lived through, it occurs to Harry that compared to one-off changes in behavior, prolonged change is incredibly fucking difficult to achieve. Every choice must be second-guessed and scrutinized. Every outcome must justify the end. Every door closed must be worth never finding out what lies on the other side. It’s exhausting, and over the last twenty years of his life Harry has lost track of the number of times he’s decided that it isn’t worth it.
