The red Badnik raised its hand, and the door rose wide open. “Oh? The freedom fighters aren’t the primary security threat anymore!” It said.
“Oh! Did the Doctor handle them?”
“Oh no, they’re still messing with our operations!” The yellow Badnik explained in an overly cheery tone. “It’s because an anomaly overtook them in their threat level! All security systems are being planned around the idea that it’ll attack again!”
It didn’t seem to notice how concerning its words sounded. “I…see.”
“Nothing to worry about!” The orb-headed Badnik tried to comfort my mind. “Surely this anomaly will be destroyed by our wondrous Master in no time!”
“Halt!”
We had walked only a few feet into the facility when we all freezed. Looking up, I would see my hero standing on top of a balcony and looking down at me.

Summary
A year after defeating Black Doom, Shadow the Hedgehog had grown tired of the endless battles and unwanted attention. Longing for solitude, he sought to vanish from the public eye, retreating into obscurity where he felt he truly belonged. Shadow saw his purpose as the Ultimate Lifeform to be one of protection, emerging only when the world was in genuine danger. His promise to Maria and his own desire for peace fueled this decision, driving him to distance himself from the chaos.
However, Sonic the Hedgehog felt differently. He had scoured the world in search of his former rival, determined to reconnect with the enigmatic hedgehog. And after everything that had transpired during Shadow's absence, Sonic realized that Shadow might be the only one who could truly understand what he was going through. In the wake of recent events, the blue blur found himself in need of someone he could be candid with—someone who, like him, carried a certain weight forced upon their shoulders.
