“What was that anyway?” Marian asked, her frantic heart taking it’s time to calm down. “That eager to get married, huh?” Marian shouldn’t be joking about a very serious situation but here she was anyway.
“No. Well, yes but also this,” Jamie said. Without taking her eyes off the road, she took a hand off the wheel to gently hold the hand Marian had on Jamie’s thigh. “I wanted to you touch me. And driving at near death speeds always gets a girl holding some part of me.”
“You wanted to hold my hand?” Marian almost screeched again. “I could’ve died because you wanted to hold my hand?” She inhaled deeply, counted to 30 because Jamie could be so bloody insufferable sometimes. “Jamie,” she said more calmly. “You could’ve just asked.” -
