Maybe in another universe, he wouldn't be affected by this. Maybe in a separate life, he would be hooked on the greed of power. Maybe in another timeline, Husk would be able to deal in souls again. But he couldn't. He connected with them all too much. He understood their thoughts and feelings; he cared about them, all of them. Maybe if he hadn't met them, he would be able to grow in power, no matter the cost.

Summary
Basically, the title.
I fell back into my Ducktales phase, and I got this idea, so I wanted to write it before I lose interest. This is pretty much Goldie-centric and her being a great aunt (and a great-aunt). When I was looking for fics, I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I just wrote my own.
Except Choice by 48je69. That piece was great. Go read it. I cried.

Summary
Angel returns home from a particularly brutal day with Valentino, once again the object of his abuse. When he comes back to the hotel limping and in pain, he heads straight to his room, avoiding Husk. But of course, Husk isn't going to ignore what he saw. He follows Angel to his room to comfort him. Watching a movie evolves into something more, and both men realize that they had been harboring feelings for the other.

Angel has to go work even though he isn’t feeling well. When he ends up getting sick on camera, he needs Husk’s help to get back to the hotel. Husk doesn’t intend to leave him once they’re home, no matter how hard Angel tries to push him away.

Angel Dust is good at pushing through.
Through pain. Through exhaustion. Through long shoots and longer nights where stopping isn’t an option and rest is something other people get. His body has been warning him for a while now — joints slipping, limbs trembling, pain he can work around if he doesn’t think about it too hard.
Valentino keeps asking for more.
Angel keeps giving it.
Until one night, his body finally gives out — and someone notices.
A story about endurance, dissociation, chronic pain, and the quiet kind of comfort that doesn’t fix anything, but makes it bearable to exist anyway.
